Counting down: Garry Tonon successfully weighed in today in Tokyo for his bout against the great former two champion Martin Nguyen in OneChampionship' big event tomorrow here in Japan. Mr Nguyen has genuine KO power in both fists and extremely good overall. In addition he has always been a great scrambler who has proven himself very difficult to take down and even harder to down – this will be a very difficult test for a grappling based fighter like Mr Tonon. In addition there are some really interesting other bouts on the card. The great Dutch kickboxer Nieky Holzken will take on Korean Japanese judo/mma legend Akiyama in a mixed match where the first two rounds are boxing/kickboxing that will massively favor Mr Holzken but the last round is MMA which will strongly favor Mr Akiyama. The great Japanese grappler Shinya Anoki will take on former UFC fan favorite Sage Northcutt in a classic striker vs grappler contest. One of the most impressive strikers I have seen, Superlek of Thailand, will take on the very talented Japanese striker Takeru. I must check the rules for this bout – whether its or kickboxing rules will have a big impact on how they fight and possibly even the outcome – either way it will showcase some incredible high level striking skills. Grappling sensation Kade will take on the very tough and capable Scandinavian grappler Tommy Langaker. This will be a rematch. The last bout was razor close and probably should have been declared a tie. Now both want to run it back and show a much more decisive outcome. There are a bunch of other great matches also! Check it out @onechampionship 165!
