Victory in austin! The New Wave Team had a fine outing here in Austin tonight at the @flograppling WNO grappling invitational. Giancarlo Bodoni won a tightly contested match against his great rival Lucas Hulk Barbosa – this despite taking the match on just a few days notice. He used a disciplined hand fighting game to push the pace and direction of the match and win the rematch if the last ADCC gold medal match! Luke Griffith won via heel hook against ADCC semi finalist Roosevelt Sousa, showing his versatility with a game that went smoothly from standing to ground with Luke in control throughout. Helena Crevar once again showed her incredible potential defeating an ADCC trials winner and very experienced and highly ranked no gi competitor in a dominant performance – truly remarkable for a sixteen year old against such a high level opponent! Young purple belt Reese LeFever won a convincing victory over the always exciting giant killer Estevan Martinez despite taking the match on just a few days notice – a very impressive debut for him. Another youngster Dominic Meija lost a close decision in a fine back and forth match but showed again his exciting movement based style – he has a ton of potential for the future. Great to see everyone taking the skills they work so hard to develop in the gym showcased onstage! Hope you all enjoyed the show!
