One always creates another: Any time you threaten an with a move it will elicit a reaction. That defensive reaction, if appropriate will stop your move – but it will open up the possibility of another type of attack. There is no defensive reaction that doesn't create some new type of vulnerability. The question will always be whether you are knowledgeable and alert enough to see the new possibility as the old one is shut down. to use this cycle of creating an initial threat to elicit a reaction and in a new way against that reaction is one of the core elements of good jiu jitsu. It begins as a habit of always looking for a new possibility whenever you run into resistance rather than simply giving up as most people do. As the old saying goes, as one door closes another will always open – you goal is to habitually look for that new opening every time you see one closing – if you can build this habit, you will be a very difficult opponent for your partners
