stopping a move versus countering a move: When you get attacked by a move it can be intimidating. Initially we are happy just to stop the move and see this a triumph. As you progress you must try to go beyond this and see an opponents attack as an opportunity to strongly counter. Remember – AN OPPONENT IS NEVER MORE VULNERABLE THAN WHEN CAUGHT AT THE END OF A FAILED ATTACK. train yourself to go beyond merely stopping attacks and see the possibility of countering as an opponent struggles to get back into position. Make sure you really do stop the attack first – don't get into Hail Mary situations where you attack as he is attacking and hope your one works first.
