Points of no return: In the application of a given move there is always a point of no return for your opponent behind which defense fails and the move can be taken to completion. Learning to read that point is extremely important, because there will be many many occasions when you DON'T take your opponent past that and he successfully defends your move. That's when the question of what comes next arises. The better you are at reading whether or not you'll get to the point of no return, the faster you'll be able to switch off to a secondary attack and keep the kind of continuity of attack that is a distinguishing characteristic of superior athletes. When you drill and spar – constantly look for that critical point and learn to feel it physically so that it'll be clear in a competitive situation whether you'll be able to breach it or not and whether you'll break through with your first attack or whether you need to switch to another
