The path to efficiency in all physical movement begins with posture. The iron law of posture is this: For any given physical task, there is a posture that maximizes your ability perform it. For all the major scenarios of jiu jitsu, you must find that posture and train it as a habit in your movement. Only then will you be able to express the ideal of minimal effort for maximal effect.
